Easter Sunday

About 3 weeks ago my next door neighbors dad invited me to his church and I hadn’t been yet and had planned to go for Easter. Earlier this week when I was coming in the guy from next door invited me to his church and said his son was getting baptized so I definitely made up my mind to go. The father started a conversation with me while visiting his son. I was unloading my guitar out the car and he was outside smoking a cigarette. He invited me to come and sing and I told him I was a horrible singer, he said everyone can sing. Little did I know when I walked in that church what a voice he had. It was amazing and the first song of the service and one he sang solo was In The Garden. A song I’ve only known in the past 2 months or so and I can never seem to get all the way right. His singing was so beautiful and his voice so rich and soothing, not like my raw and harsh voice. He had lead parts in most of the songs sung ans music during worship is really important to me and needless to say I’ll definitely be there every Sunday I’m here.

The church was very different then my one at home, a very small country church, reminding me of churches in other country towns. Not perfect but I liked it. The sound system was no match for all the kids crowded in there especially after they decided it was a good idea to hand out candy in the middle of service that some parents didn’t want them eating right away. The mic at the pulpit wasn’t the best and all the other announcements I halfway heard over the clankity clank of dress shoes and heels on the loud wood floor. I liked it thought, it was cozy and  I liked the hour church service compared tot he 3 hours I sit through at home, lol, which I will gladly sit through of course. (I also thought the song selections were too short I could’ve sang and clapped and listed a few more minutes on each song.

We took communion which was approached differently than in my home church but I am Baptist and this was a United Methodist church. At the front they had a loaf of bread and cups of juice, at first I thought everyone was taking sips out of the cup and I panicked.  I knew drinking after all those people would be something that I wouldn’t be able to do. but, upon closer inspection they were just dipping the bread. I guess the older men that went first just needed to get a little closer to the glass to see, lol.

My neighbor’s son was baptized it was beautiful of course. They called the family up and his dad is married, darn!!!! (lol, just joking, I appreciate everyone that’s still married) but  that voice, I can add it to my list of likes in future mates. Before I get too off track, lol, it was a very good day and even though I’ve only been to this church once and no one really talked to me they just kind of moved around me with some polite nods I know that by the time I leave I will really miss this church :)

Waterfall Pictures

I love art and photography, which is also why I have many artsy pictures of myself hanging around my apartment. My ex boyfriend is a photographer….I guess, lol, and he semi approached me about him taking pictures of me at a waterfall around here he remembers from church trips. I quickly declined for many reasons, just being around him for that long and the prospect of me having to gie him a place to stay while he’s here.

It got me thinking though, how great those pictures would be and it’s something I’d love to do. Only problem is I don’t know anyone here and even if I meet a photographer, I don’t go hiking in the woods with people I’ve only known a short amount of time.If things worked out though, taking pictures, by/ in/ under a waterfall would be something I’d love to do.

Other problems and worries I haven’t mention: I’m talking about a seriously small waterfall. Large bodies of water really freak me out. I don’t know how to swim. What about bugs and organisms!?! What if something brushes by my leg! what if there are leeches!!!!What if the water makes me itch??? Are there snakes that chill out in the water? What if the water it absolutely freezing? The wild animals, bears, ect.

I’m sure there may be even more concerns and I would be taking my BB gun with me (which I have yet to get). But, all these things that would freak me out would make me taking pictures like this even more exciting and meaningful. I guess we’ll see.

Jewelry Party

SO, this week I’ve been really sick, but after sleeping a lovely 12 hours this morning I’m feeling a lot better so I can catch up every one on the events of this week.

During the past week I was invited to a jewelry party. The party was held by one of the ladies that works in the transportation department at internship daughter  (have no idea if I wrote that right but I’m sure you understand). The crew I eat lunch with every day includes the transportation department and they really work hard, transporting all day long, especially with all this weather. When the weather is bad, which can be a variety of things for the clients they transport them from place to place on campus. They also transport cottages with large amounts of residents in wheel chairs.

She thought I would be bored so she invited me to her daughters jewelry party that I just got back from. It was pretty decent, some of the jewelry looked real cool but I don’t really know about the whole gold-plated thing, I did want to buy something though because it’s a recession, lol, and if I can help someone else out then I like to. I bought 2 pairs of stud earrings in the shape of a cross and a heart, one $12 the other $8. Her daughter invited me to hang out with her sometime which I thought was really nice. It was and interesting outing.

The party was in a hotel conference room and guess what I saw to bring me back to the reality of where I was??? Walking out I saw coming in a man in some really tight raggedy shorts, a wife beater, and a cowboy hat walking in with his wife dressed much the same. Now it’s the warmest day we’ve had in a long, long time but it was nowhere near warm enough for him to just be wearing that, lol.
